EVEN A CHILD CAN SEE, OUR CONSTITUTION IS NOTHING TO BE TOYED WITH. Balancing individual freedom with the needs of the greater community can be a delicate proposition. How do we protect our rights to assemble with our fellows and petition our government for redress of grievances, while upholding laws designed to maintain order that would limit when and where we might assemble, and how we might speak? And, as our nation faces security threats from within and without, how do we bolster our defenses against those who would do us harm, while maintaining the freedoms of those we seek to protect?
